A Kist Built to Be Seen

The Amabala Kist takes its name from the pattern across its lid. Amabala means spots, or markings, and this is the boldest piece in the range because of it. Where the rest of the range works in wood tone and hide, this one leads with pattern.

It is built to stand out in a room rather than blend into one. A low black frame, a leopard-print top, and nothing else competing for attention. It still does the job every kist in the range does, storage underneath a padded seat, but it announces itself first.

Solid Wood, Lacquered Black

Each kist is built from solid timber, then finished in a deep, near-black lacquer that sets off the pattern on the lid rather than fighting it. Two raised front panels run across the face, a plainer front than the rest of the range, which keeps the eye on the top.

The base stands on small turned bun feet, understated against the boldness of the lid. Corners are reinforced, not just glued, so the frame holds its shape under regular use.

A Print, Not a Hide

The padded top is upholstered in a leopard-print fabric, a printed velvet-type textile rather than any animal hide. It is chosen for the pattern, not for a claim of origin, and it wears like any fabric-topped seat: shake it out, spot-clean as needed, keep it out of long stretches of direct sun so the print does not fade unevenly.

A small brass twist-latch sits at the front of the lid, a simple clasp rather than a full lock. It keeps the lid closed without the weight of hardware the rest of the range carries.

Built to Last, Bold on Purpose

The Amabala Kist is sealed and finished the same careful way as the rest of the range, built to hold up under daily use rather than sit as a one-season statement. Wipe the wood down with a dry or lightly damp cloth.

It is not trying to be the quietest piece in a room, and it does not need to be. Built the slow way, same as every kist in the range, it should earn its place for years after the print first caught someone’s eye.
