A Kist Reshaped

The Guquko Kist takes its name from change. Guquko means transformation, and this is the range’s clearest example of it: the same idea as every other kist, storage built to last, but the shape has moved on from the square box the rest of the range is built around.

The body curves at each end rather than running square to the corner, a rounder, lower-slung silhouette that reads as current rather than antique. It is still built to the same standard underneath the shape.

Solid Wood, Formed to Curve

Each kist is built from solid timber, with the curved end panels formed rather than simply joined square, a slower and more exacting way to build a corner than the flat panels used elsewhere in the range. Fine pinstripe grooves run across the curve, a quiet detail that catches the light differently depending on where you stand.

The finish is a deep, high-gloss black lacquer, a contrast to the mahogany and espresso tones used across the rest of the range. Three flat panels sit across the front, keeping the storage space beneath fully usable despite the curved ends.

Leather, Hide, and a Working Lock

The padded lid is upholstered in taupe leather with a genuine cowhide centre stripe, the same pairing of materials used on the Isiko Kist, in a lighter tone suited to the black body beneath it. A working key lock sits at the front, turned by an actual key rather than left as a decorative plate.

The handle is deliberately plain: a modern, angular black fitting rather than the ornate cast brass used elsewhere in the range. It suits the shape it sits on.

Built to Last, Looking Forward

The Guquko Kist is sealed against everyday knocks and finished to the same standard as the rest of the range, even where the shape has changed. Wipe the wood down with a dry or lightly damp cloth.

Treat the hide the way you would any natural hide, wiped clean rather than scrubbed, and kept out of direct, harsh sunlight so the pattern holds its depth. Built the slow way, in a shape that looks toward what comes next rather than only back at what came before.
